Risograph Printing:

For this lesson, I have learnt about and practised the technique of risograph printing. The design that I have made for this lesson links to the Local Folk task. However, this design is different to the original drawing based on how it has a cartoon style. The two colours that I chose for this print are bright red and aqua.

I began my risograph print by choosing the colour aqua for the first layer. I think that this colour works effectively as it has highlighted a variety of bold and thin lines. Also, I think the aqua ink looks effective as it has given texture to certain parts of the clothing such as the trousers.

For the next stage, I needed to apply the bright red ink. This piece of work did not turn out how I would of liked it to based on how the red ink is not in the right position on the face. Because certain elements have overlapped, I needed to alter the position of my design for the next print. Even though this design was not successful, it has helped me to learn how aligning your work correctly for risograph printing is important.

After changing the designs position before printing, I believe that this design is more effective and successful. Both uses of ink are aligned correctly on the face, hair and clothing. However, the alignment on the bags is not correct. Even though the design on the bags is out of place, I believe that it still works effectively. Overall, I think the final risograph print is successful because it shows different hues of bright red and aqua. I did this by adding different amounts of pressure on my original design by using pencil. Also, I believe this print is successful as it shows elements of texture and patterns.
