Popping Out Thumbnails and Designs:
I have started this task by making some sketches of my character. I think this was useful as I was able to think about how my character would look from different viewpoints. I've done this by sketching a profile/front view and a side view of my character. Afterwards, I considered what she would look like when making different facial expressions. Next, I thought about what colours would work best for her hair, facial features and clothing. Finally, I added labels and a character profile. I did this so I could extend the ideas that I made from the Local Folk task. By doing all of this, I believe it has been useful so I can reveal the traits of my character.

For the next stages of this project, I have created eight small thumbnails that reveal what will happen within each panel. My idea for this project is to show how my character is going on a journey to post a letter. Throughout this journey, she will face different obstacles such as: going through a cave, getting across a stream and climbing a mountain. I have enjoyed creating these ideas as I have shown how my character gradually becomes more confident. For example, there is a panel that reveals that she is scared to enter a cave. But, the next panel shows how she has gone through the cave and she has conquered her fear as she leaves the torch on the floor. Also, I have added lines around her the visually reveal her confidence. To add detail to my thumbnails, I have applied the uses of mark making.

I think that my work has revealed the uses of design development. I am going to continue to do this by developing some elements within my thumbnails to make sure that each panel fits the requirements within the brief.
