Popping Out: My eight panels After producing my thumbnails and character designs, I began to create my eight final outcomes. When making these panels, I have continued to apply different uses of line work. Also, I've tried experimenting with a variety of mediums. For this final task, I decided to make a booklet. For my first panel, I have shown my character on her way to post a letter. Within this panel, I've drawn the leaning tower of Pisa in the background. To add details onto the building, I have used pencil. I've used shading with this medium to suggest the uses of tone. Also, I've used pencil and fine liner to add a pattern of short lines to parts of the building. I've done this to add patterns and shadows. For the grass, I have added texture by using oil pastels. The last mediums that I've used is pen. This medium ha...

Screen Printing: Recently, for the Popping Out project, I have been experimenting with different techniques. For this lesson, I experimented with the technique of Screen Printing. I enjoyed this lesson as I was able to learn a new skill whilst using a variety of materials. The materials that I have used are: a baking tray, fabric, tissue paper, card and paper.     I like how my design has turned out on the baking tray as I've applied a dark, solid colour ink onto a shiny surface. Also, the colour of the baking tray doesn't draw your attention away from the design.  For my second piece of work, I printed onto purple fabric. I am happy with the final outcome for this piece as I wasn't sure if applying dark ink onto dark coloured fabric would be effective. I think that using the fabric has made this piece successful as it has added the uses of texture. However, for future lessons, I think I will try using lighter coloured fabrics as it would make my design appear much b...

Popping Out Thumbnails and Designs: I have started this task by making some sketches of my character. I think this was useful as I was able to think about how my character would look from different viewpoints. I've done this by sketching a profile/front view and a side view of my character. Afterwards, I considered what she would look like when making different facial expressions. Next, I thought about what colours would work best for her hair, facial features and clothing. Finally, I added labels and a character profile. I did this so I could extend the ideas that I made from the Local Folk task. By doing all of this, I believe it has been useful so I can reveal the traits of my character.  For the next stages of this project, I have created eight small thumbnails that reveal what will happen within each panel. My idea for this project is to show how my character is going on a journey to post a letter. Throughout this journey, she will face different obstacles such as: going throu...
